A-PINK Comeback on May 9th

I don't expect many rookie girl groups to grow on me, especially the ones who are particularly "aeygo" friendly. With this being said, A-Pink, who achieved an all-kill in receiving four rookie awards last year, has announced that their comeback with a full-length album on May 9th. The Album title is "Une Annee," which includes nine tracks and includes a track called "Hush" as well as the recently released fan-appreciation single, "April 19th." The group will be collaborating with producers and musicians to develop their growth in singing, dancing and overall performance.

It's always exciting to see the new concepts companies comes up with, and I just hope it's not going to be typical. This season, some girl groups are channeling Gwen Stefani's "What You Waiting For" music video with the crazy teased hair in cotton candy colors, bright pink cheeks over almost geisha pale faces and fairy/flowery themes. "Taetiseo," the three-person sub-unit from SNSD is doing it as the cover image for "Twinkle," and so is new Pledis Entertainment's new girl group "Hello Venus," who also happen to be debuting on May 9th. I find the fairy/wonderland theme is much preferred in compared to the alternative- which is animal print and vinyl-like, shiny, unflattering leather.

From A-Cube Entertainment, they have stated that they will not be giving A-Pink the 180 degree cute to sexy make-over just yet, as they are still young. Instead, they will work to create other fresh and cute concepts for the group. I find this a good idea, because half of A-Pink are still minors and attending high school. Groups that change their concepts too drastically for each comeback tend to lose their initial audience appreciation. When A-Pink first debuted, the concept was clearly cute, girly and pink. "My My" was a good transition because it kept that "Aeygo" with a hint of incoming sexiness in what I call their dance-break, R&B "hip dance." The leader, Park Chorong, at 22 years of age, states that she wouldn't mind a concept change into something more mature, just because she is at the age where that transformation is welcomed.

The photo above gives me an idea. Wouldn't it be so cute if they came back with a pin-up girl style? I'm not talking about SNSD's "Genie" or Nine Muses "Ticket" concept, either. I mean volumed ringlets, the cute little bandanas they're wearing above, high-waisted denim shorts/skirts, and stripes. Waist-cinching halter dresses would also be very darlin' on the girls. Knowing A-Pink, they can probably pull off the "cute" version of such a sexy-style and make it flattering to their slender torsos. The promiscuous version of that concept can go to Dal Shalbet or something.

Here are some cute dresses that would look great with the girls.
